In April 2017, Mrs Ursula Pagels was among those who received the Sogetsu 90th Anniversary Commemorative Sogetsu Overseas Honor Award at a ceremony in Chiba Prefecture. This was in recognition of her excellent work for Sogetsu ikebana.
In 2018, Mrs Ursula Pagels received the Foreign Minister’s Commendation, to acknowledge her contribution to the promotion of friendship between Japan and Australia through her dedication to ikebana. An article about it was published here.
Demonstrations and Exhibitions
Our branch members include qualified teachers of Sogetsu ikebana who have demonstrated this art at high schools, further education colleges and community organisations. Exhibitions have been presented in association with other floral events in WA.
